Unique Opportunities
Students receive Red Cross beltline training and work Red Cross Bloodmobiles at F.I.T. and home high schools. Students volunteer for non-nursing related services at Fayette Nursing and Rehabilitation and Hidden Valley Healthcare, such as reading and talking to residents, writing letters, giving manicures, and playing games to promote physical exercise. Occasionally, students volunteer at blood pressure clinics at area businesses.
Students may obtain clinical experience at Fayette Nursing and Rehabilitation with required State Department of Health supervision provided by a Registered Nurse. These students are eligible to take the State Licensure Test and work in Long-Term Care as Geriatric Nursing Aides.
Students are given an opportunity to participate in Health Occupations Students of America (HOSA) Organization. They attend workshops, seminars, and competitive events to develop leadership skills and teamwork.
